On Tuesday November 20, 2001, Connie and I set out on a Taste of the Pacific Northwest Trip by leaving Tampa by Southwest Airlines and heading to Kansas City, Missouri and then on to Portland, Oregon.
The next morning we headed out of Portland along the Columbia River Basin which separates Washington State from Oregon. We went east and saw the Multnomah Falls first before reaching the Hood River. We then took the Mt Hood Loop around the southern section of Mt Hood, where we Floridians saw our first snow of the season. We then headed north into Washington State to view Mt St. Helens the Volcano. After viewing this incredible marvel we headed west to the Pacific Coast and followed the Seacoast down to Newport, Oregon where we stayed for two nights.
We went to the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport on November 22. On the next day we headed up the coastline and saw a number of incredible seacoast sights including Cape Meares and Cannon Beach. We arrived in Portland that evening and flew out on Saturday morning November 24th through Albuquerque, NM and arrived back in Tampa late that evening.
We have developed this travelogue like all of the other ones on our website so that students can utilize it to learn more about the Pacific Northwest Region by not only our pictures but also by the links which we provide.
It is our hope you enjoy looking at and learning about Oregon and the Pacific Northwest as much as we did experiencing it.
