South Central Alaska Scenic Views
The
Cruise Ship Jubilee lands in Seward, Alaska in South Central Alaska and all of
its passengers disembarked.
Scenic
Mountain View on Trip North from Seward to Portage and then on to Anchorage.
More
of the mountain view from the Seward to Anchorage Highway.

The
south end of the foot of Portage Glacier outside of Whittier, Alaska. We took a
small boat tour of the glacier to get up close and to feel its presence better.
The
north end of the foot of the Portage Glacier.
The
complete Portage Glacier. Although it is smaller than most of the glaciers we
saw on our trip, we were able to get close enough to hear its sounds and see its
activity first hand.
An
unnamed "hanging glacier" next to the Portage Glacier. It is hanging
because it does not touch the water floor.
The
mountains creating the Portage Glacier Valley Lake.

The
visitor's welcoming center in Anchorage surrounded by beautiful flowers.
Anchorage was the largest city we visited with 280,000 people.
In
front of the Visitors Centers on Fifth Street was the Wednesday Market as well
as beautiful hanging flower baskets on each light pole.
This
directional pole declares Anchorage as the place to be. It is a lovely city with
a real cosmopolitan air to it. It is surrounded by mountains and on a clear day
you can see Mount McKinley from the city.
Connie
met up with Mischelle Coggins a former co-worker from Tampa Palms Elementary.
Mischelle now lives in Anchorage and works with children with severe emotional
problems. She loves the city and state and is very persuasive in her
encouragement to have others join her up in the 49th state.
Some
of the mountain ranges surrounding Anchorage. Mischelle lives in a home close to
the foot of this mountain range.
Perhaps
to bribe and encourage us to return, Mischelle took us to the largest Chocolate
Falls in the world at the Anchorage Berry Factory. What a treat!
Unfortunately we could not take a swim since we had to be at the airport within
a half hour.
Mischelle
and Connie get in the car to get us to the airport to complete a vacation which
will be remembered for years.
Special thanks to Mischelle for her kindness in being a
tour guide and hostess as well as for getting us to the airport "chocoholic
free". We love You. Connie & Jim
