Scenes of Ketchikan
We
arrive in the fog at Ketchikan, Alaska, the first major city on the inner
passage.
The
cruise port in Ketchikan. Ketchikan has over 15,000 residents.
Connie
bundles up for our first venture on to Alaskan property.
Many
of the main streets in Ketchikan were made of wood.
Connie
stands by the first totem pole we found in Alaska. It was at the Ketchikan
Historical Museum and Library.

The Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show - Ketchikan
The
Dawson Creek Cabin at the Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show in Ketchikan
situated at Spruce Mill which once was the largest spruce mill in the world. In
the 70's it was closed for good.
The
ax throwing contest. There were two teams the USA and Canada.
A
jousting match. The participants in these contests are professionals who appear
on ESPN and the Outdoor Life Network. They stay for short times here for
practice when they are not involved in the lumberjack circuit around the
country.

Creek Street-Ketchikan
Creek
Street was the Brothel district of Ketchikan consisting of 15 homes until 1950's
and now it is a cluster of Shoppes.
The
Ketchikan creek runs through this section of town and is a busy place during the
Salmon run.
The
rapids run fast and pure on this creek.
There
is a water falls at the end of the Creek Street.
The
sound and smell of the creek was healing and refreshing.
We
felt like we had been dropped into a picture post card.
