Coping
with the 9.11.01 Aftermath

Why this Site
November 2001
Content:
November 17, 2001
First: Let us wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving! It
will be a bitter sweet event for us all. We have so much to be thankful for as a
country of free Americans and yet we have heavy hearts knowing that close to
over five thousand victim's families will have empty chairs at their
Thanksgiving tables. We continue to pray for all who have suffered losses on
9.11 and hope they will visit our site for support and healing.
Second: A whole lot has happened since our last message
on this site. Our site has grow substantially:
-
9.11.01 Coping Pages:
http://www.coping.org/911/healing/content.htm Have grown with new and
updated information for Adult and Child healing at this time. There is a special
section in Spiritual Healing with
Healing Reminders Uplifting
Messages for These Times, be sure to see these.
-
The Memorial Page:
http://www.coping.org/911/memory/content.htm. We have rearranged this page
to insure that it is clear the types of tributes which are catalogued there.
There are some real awesome new tributes especially:
September 11, 2001 - 911 Emergency
, Puppy Power - Let us give thanks for our K-9
Heroes!, and
Portraits of
Grief the New York Times Stories on each victim
-
The History Page:
http://www.coping.org/911/history/content.htm. We redesigned this page and
delineated archives from current lists. A significant addition is something for
us who do not live up in the NYC area will appreciate it is
A Tourist's View of a Healing New York City on
October 26, 2001 done by Marleen Salo a friend of ours who with her family
visited there prior to taking a cruise to the Caribbean.
-
Accounts of Survivors:
http://www.coping.org/911/survivor/content.htm We expanded this page to
include stories of ordinary people at this time in their lives. There are
incredible stories throughout this section. Special note is
Steve Golding's Account of 9.11 at Ground Zero
he produced the Memorial listed above which is moving, personal, and very
healing.
-
Solidarity with our Brother and Sister Muslim & Middle
Eastern Americans:
http://www.coping.org/911/islam/content.htm This site has grown
substantially and we have been able to put in very telling information about the
uniqueness of the fundamentalist groups within the Islamic world.
-
Terrorist pages:
http://www.coping.org/911/terror/content.htm have changed in tone and
perspective as air strikes have been successful in helping to rid Afghanistan of
the Taliban rule. However, we all must realize that the war on terrorism will
not end just because the Taliban have been ousted from Afghanistan.
-
Reasoned Voices:
http://www.coping.org/911/voices/content.htm has been edited and redesigned
by topical areas. Significantly there has been more peace movement and dissent
articles included. There is no question that a prevailing question is being
raised here. That is specifically the USA's dependence on oil. If we were not so
dependent on oil, would we have ever been involved in any of the last two wars
in the Middle East? Serious issues which need all of our attention.
The Other Side of the Women's Issues in
Afghanistan is very interesting and significant in this regard. The other
major issue is the Saudi Connection as seen in
For Many in Saudi Arabia, a Fundamental Conflict After Sept. 11, Questions Deal
With Tension Between Ultraconservative Culture and Influences of Modern World.
-
Rumor Page:
http://www.coping.org/911/rumors/content.htm We put on this site the
biweekly updates from www.snopes2.com so
that we can bring you the most up to date background on the ongoing email rumor
mill.
-
Pictorial Pages:
http://www.coping.org/911/pixmood/content.htm these have exploded we
now have 7 galleries in the Artistic,
6 galleries and loads of links in the
Cartoon, 4 galleries in the Bizarre
and 10 galleries in the irreverent and 4 galleries in Movie Title Parodies in
the Irreverent and Humorous Pictures.
-
Written Pages:
http://www.coping.org/911/writmood/write.htm have grown substantially with
the Serious being edited by
topical areas, Humorous which has
great links to the humor sites on the web, and
Bizarre which catch the weird and
unusual out there.
-
Music Page:
http://www.coping.org/911/musicmod/content.htm Our newest page which
includes Patriotic Music,
Musical Creations of Tribute to 9.11
Aftermath and Parody Songs with
Cartoons
Third: Our 9.11 site has grown and stands ready to be a
healing resource for people in our country. Please help us by spreading the word
about our site and letting others know about it. Please encourage other sites to
link to ours so that people will have free access to the information contained
her. We have nothing to gain by doing this site except the satisfaction of
knowing that is it helping people cope with the aftermath of 9.11.
Have a blessed and Happy Thanksgiving,
click here for our animated fun filled "Thanksgiving Quiz" greeting,
Jim and Connie Messina
