One Year Later: Pictures of New York City

Content:

Introduction

On August 31, September 1 and 2, 2002, Jim and Connie Messina returned to New York City and Ground Zero to capture a picture of the state of the City one year after 9/11. What they saw is captured in the next six galleries. The grief and sadness experienced at Ground Zero gave way to a sense of hope and faith in the American Spirit when visiting the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. New York has survived this first year but there are many more months and years ahead for its complete recovery and healing.
